France’s First University Course in Russian History

Rodolphe Baudin and Wladimir Berelowitch have published a new source on the history of Russia in eighteenth century, course taught by Christophe Guillaume Koch at University Strasbourg between 1770s 1780s. Since there were Russians among Koch’s students, this is an example cultural interaction: young Russians, who had certain amount knowledge about their country, confronted with what professor, was well aware latest French German publications Russian history, told them topic. It all more important interesting to draw attention publication, since lecture notes from courses made his students manuscripts works will undoubtedly be found archives libraries.
